Baked Macaroni & Cheese

Equipment:

  • 1 Large Round Pot
  • Stove
  • Oven
  • Cheese Grater
  • PAM Cooking Spray
  • 13 x 9 Baking Pan
  • Large Saucepan
  • Strainer or Colander

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Dry Mustard(optional
  • 2 Tablespoons Flour
  • 2 1/2 Cups Milk (I use Skim)
  • 2 Tablespoons Margarine or Butter
  • 12 Ounces Grated Cheddar cheese, divided(about 4 Cups)
  • 12 Ounces Elbow Macaroni

Pre-Preparation:

  1. Lay out all ingredients/equiptment15 minutes prior to cooking/baking.
  2. Grate up 12 Ounces (4 Cups) of Cheddar Cheese. Reserve 1 cup of cheese for topping.

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 Degrees.
  2. In a large round pot, add in about half a pot of water and salt. Turn on Medium-High to boil.
  3. Add in 12 ounces of Elbow Macaroni. Once you start the Elbow Macaroni cooking, proceed to step 5.
  4. In a large saucepan. Over Medium Heat, Add margarine, let melt, add flour.
  5. Cook Elbow Macaroni for 6 minutes then drain through strainer. Yields about 3 or 4 Cups.
  6. In your large saucepan, stir in milk until smooth. Stirring constantly, bring to a boil over medium heat and boil for a few minutes. It's very important that you stir constantly so as not to burn, do not skip this step!
  7. In your large saucepan, add in 3 cups grated cheese.
  8. In your large saucepan, let mixture boil for a few minutes, remove from heat.
  9. Spray PAM in baking pan or casserole dish.
  10. Add Elbow Macaroni from strainer to baking pan or casserole dish.
  11. Pour your mixture from your large saucepan over the Elbow Macaroni in baking pan or casserole dish.
  12. Pour your 1 cup of reserved cheese over top of macaroni mixture.
  13. Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
